Microsoft released cumulative update KB5083633 (Build 28020.1812) for Windows 11 version 26H1. This build is intended for insiders on the Canary channel, which is designed for previewing the latest changes in Windows, including major kernel revisions, API changes, and other critical parts of the OS.
Builds in this channel do not correspond to a specific Windows version, are released immediately after creation with limited documentation, without thorough validation, and may be unstable. Some of the changes being tested will never be released, while others may appear in the future when ready. This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes aimed at enhancing system stability and overall quality.
- Touchpad. Added a setting to adjust the size of the right-click area on the touchpad. The setting is available in: Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad. The user can choose the right-click zone size (lower right corner of the touchpad) from options: default, small, medium, or large. The setting is only displayed for touchpads with a physically pressable surface. If settings have been changed through the manufacturer's proprietary app, an additional Custom option may appear, preserving user-defined values. Feedback can be sent through Feedback Hub (Win + F) under Input & Language > Touchpad.
- Sharing. Based on user feedback, Microsoft has refined the Drag Tray interface – now using a more compact peek view window. This reduces the chance of accidental activation when moving the cursor to the top of the screen and makes it easier to close the panel during interaction.
- Windows Security. Continued rollout of the updated interface in Windows Security > Device Security > Secure Boot. Added color indicators (green, yellow, red) as well as updated tooltips reflecting the status of Secure Boot and certificates. This is related to the Secure Boot certificate update on consumer and some enterprise devices – users can check their status directly in the interface. The feature is disabled by default on IT-administered devices and servers.
- Feedback Hub. An updated version of the Feedback Hub app (version 2.2604.101.0) is being rolled out for Dev and Canary channels. The update includes refinements based on user feedback: improved default window size and added window size memory between sessions; added support for mouse back button for navigation; fixed an issue where fewer community feedback items were displayed; fixed display of Upvote buttons for users with Chinese display language; plus other stability and usability improvements.
No known issues are officially listed at this time, but Canary channel builds are by definition unstable, released with limited documentation and without thorough validation. Some changes tested in the Canary channel may never be released. Users should be prepared for possible crashes.
Installation via Windows Update: go to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates. A computer restart is required to complete installation.
How the new features work:
Touchpad: This feature lets you adjust the size of the right-click zone in the lower right corner of physically pressable touchpads. The user selects a preset size (small, medium, large) via the registry or system input API. If an OEM app changed these settings, the system adds a Custom option, reading saved user values from the driver or proprietary storage.
Sharing: The Drag Tray mechanism uses a compact peek‑style window that appears when the cursor moves to the top of the screen. The smaller window reduces accidental activation (focus loss or gesture overlap). Closing the panel is faster due to a clearer outside‑window area, tracked via WM_NCMOUSEMOVE message hooks.
Windows Security: The updated Secure Boot interface shows status with color indicators (green = OK, yellow = warning, red = failure) and tooltips with certificate details. Verification is done via Win32 VerifyTrust API or the system command Get-SecureBootPolicy. On IT‑managed devices, the feature is disabled via Group Policy ConfigureSecureBoot.
Feedback Hub: Version 2.2604.101.0 stores window size in the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\FeedbackHub) and restores it on launch. The mouse back button is handled via WM_XBUTTONUP. Fixed Upvote button display for Chinese language – a font width / Segoe UI rendering issue. Fixed community feedback list filtering.
