Microsoft has released cumulative update KB5083726 for Windows 11, version 25H2 for insiders on the Dev Channel – Windows 11 Insider Preview Quality Update (26300.8276). New updates for Windows 11 have appeared on the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider Program.
Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26300.8276 (KB5083726) has been released. Users on this channel will now receive Windows 11, version 25H2 updates, which are available via the enablement package KB5073032 (Build 26300.xxx).
- Settings. Changing location logic. Based on user feedback, Microsoft has refined the logic of location settings in Settings > Privacy & security > Location. When Location Services are turned off, options such as Default location and Allow location override are unavailable – apps and services do not receive location data. Now these settings appear inactive (grayed out) until Location Services are enabled.
- Settings. Improved navigation reliability. Improved reliability when navigating to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- File Explorer. Icon position update. Updated icon positions in the File Explorer search box. It now displays consistently across different PCs.
- File Explorer. Overall reliability improvement. Improved overall reliability of File Explorer.
- File Explorer. Enhanced navigation pane experience. Enhanced navigation pane experience for Voice Access users.
- Windows Hello. Improved fingerprint sign-in reliability. Improved reliability and performance of Windows Hello Fingerprint sign-in after the PC wakes from sleep.
- Input. Faster clipboard history opening. Improved the speed of opening the clipboard history.
- Fonts. Leelawadee UI family improvements. Improved the Leelawadee UI font family for Thai, Lao, Khmer, and Lontara script. Enhanced glyph sequence, positioning, and rendering.
Installation via Windows Update: go to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates. A computer restart is required to complete the installation.
Features and capabilities included in Dev Channel builds may never appear in the final release, as Microsoft actively tests different concepts and gathers feedback. Features may change, be removed, or be replaced and may not leave the Windows Insider Program. Some of them may appear in future versions of Windows when fully ready.
Some pre-tested features may not be fully localized in all languages. Localization will gradually improve as feature development completes.
If you notice translation issues in your language, report them via the Feedback Hub.
Also, some accessibility features may temporarily not work with pre-tested features such as Recall and Click to Do. Since Dev and Beta channels represent parallel development paths, there are cases where some features and capabilities appear first in the Beta channel.
How the new features work:
Settings. Changing location logic: When Location Services are disabled, the kernel geolocation driver blocks IDataReminderInterop and ILocationManager API calls. The system does not transmit coordinates even under privileged process requests, and UI elements are grayed out via registry state binding (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CapabilityAccessManager\Location).
Settings. Improved navigation reliability: Rendering of the Installed Apps page is optimized by replacing dynamic element loading with pre-cached metadata from AppxManifest.xml packages. Thread race conditions in the XAML navigator are fixed — section transitions no longer freeze due to incomplete Frame.Navigate initialization.
File Explorer. Icon position update: Search box layout logic changed to an adaptive Grid with fixed margins. The icon now binds to relative window coordinates rather than absolute pixels and recalculates via Window.SizeChanged trigger, eliminating DPI-related misalignment.
File Explorer. Overall reliability improvement: Stability improved by refactoring filesystem change notification handling (ReadDirectoryChangesW). Fewer handle leaks in threads that refresh file lists, plus protective timeouts for network drive hangs.
File Explorer. Enhanced navigation pane experience: For Voice Access, accessibility labels (UIA_CustomNavigationPatternId) added to the folder tree. The speech recognition system now receives explicit hierarchy notifications, enabling correct voice focus on Desktop, Downloads, and Network.
Windows Hello. Improved fingerprint sign-in reliability: Fingerprint sensor driver now uses a separate IRP stack after S3 sleep wake. TPM initialization timing reworked — the biometric module waits for full bus restoration before sending template matching requests.
Input. Faster clipboard history opening: Speedup achieved by preloading clipboard data in the background ClipboardUserSvc process. Previously history loaded on Win+V press; now data resides in a fast cache with deduplication of CF_UNICODETEXT and CF_BITMAP formats.
Fonts. Leelawadee UI family improvements: Font files (.ttf) replaced with OpenType Variable. Glyph substitution rules for Thai, Lao, Khmer, and Lontara scripts rebuilt — diacritic positioning fixed by modifying GPOS and GSUB tables.
