Microsoft has released cumulative update KB5083778 (Build 28020.1873) for Windows 11, version 26H1 for insiders on the Canary channel. A new Windows 11 Insider Experimental (26H1) Preview Build 28200.1873 is also available. Please note: these release notes apply to participants in the Canary channel of the 28000 series. As we transition to the updated Windows Insider program, all new release notes will be published under the new channel names, even if Canary channel participants in the 28000 series have not yet been moved to the Experimental (26H1) channel.
- Xbox Mode. The full-screen Xbox mode is now called Xbox Mode. The first launch screen when entering Xbox Mode has been improved. You can send feedback via the Feedback Hub (Win + F) under Games and Xbox > Game full-screen mode.
- Voice input on the touch keyboard. The voice input interface when using the touch keyboard has been updated. The new design has abandoned the previous full-screen overlay — voice input animations are now displayed directly on the dictation key, helping you stay focused on your work.
- Storage. Performance has been improved when navigating to the large volume management section via Settings > System > Storage > Advanced storage settings > Disks & volumes. The Settings > System > Storage page no longer triggers a UAC prompt immediately upon opening. The prompt only appears when you navigate to view temporary files.
- Network. Fixed an issue where the Settings > Network & Internet > Data usage section might show unrealistically large traffic values in recent Insider builds.
- Other. Improved startup performance of autoload applications after system boot — referring to applications shown in Settings > Apps > Startup.
Installation is done via Windows Update: go to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates. A computer restart is required to complete the installation.
