Feature / Change Performance Impact (Speed/FPS) Optimization / Efficiency Gaming Optimization
Restore to a point in time (Quick rollback) 🟢 Slight improvement (reduces downtime after failed updates, restoring system to a clean state faster) 🟢 High (avoids lengthy OS reinstallation, preserves optimal system configuration) ⚪ No direct impact (can rescue a non-booting gaming system)
Pause updates for up to 35 days 🟢 Situation-based boost (prevents background update processes from consuming CPU/Disk during gameplay) 🟢 High user control (allows scheduling updates outside of intensive work/gaming sessions) 🟢 Positive (eliminates sudden FPS drops and latency spikes caused by background update checks)
Updated widgets (reduced distractions) 🟢 Very minor (lighter panel reduces background RAM/CPU usage slightly) 🟡 Low (decluttering desktop focus aids user efficiency) 🟢 Very minor (fewer desktop overlay elements can reduce game stutter when toggling to desktop)
Color tint and Magnifier improvements ⚪ No impact ⚪ No impact ⚪ No impact
File Explorer (optimized actions, faster launch) 🟢 Minor (faster launch reduces system freeze when browsing game folders) 🟢 Medium (better memory management for explorer.exe speeds general task execution) 🟡 Low (snappier file browsing for mod management or game library navigation)
Bluetooth and LE Audio reliability ⚪ No core performance impact 🟢 Medium (low-energy audio reduces battery drain on laptops/controllers slightly) 🟢 Medium (more stable wireless audio eliminates audio crackling/stutter during games)
Phone Link audio routing improvements ⚪ No PC performance impact 🟡 Low (streamlines audio source management) ⚪ No impact
Voice access and typing (French/German/Spanish) ⚪ No impact 🟡 Low (hands-free input can speed up specific non-gaming workflows) ⚪ No impact
IPP printer installation by default ⚪ No impact 🟢 Medium (faster driverless installation frees system resources) ⚪ No impact
Touchpad right-click zone configuration ⚪ No impact 🟡 Low (precision input reduces misclick correction time) ⚪ No impact
Emoji panel (GIPHY integration) ⚪ No impact ⚪ No impact ⚪ No impact
Secure Boot certificate expansion ⚪ No performance impact 🟢 High (automated updates prevent boot failures) 🟢 Anti-cheat compatibility (ensures Secure Boot integrity for games with strict anti-tamper)
Fix: Third-party apps (OLE Automation bug KB5095091) 🟢 Restored (prevents hangs when Office-dependent launchers crash, keeping system responsive) 🟢 High fix (critical workflow restoration without workarounds) 🟡 Medium (fixes game launchers/add-ons failing to open Office documents for mods/configs)
Change: Hotkeys clearing behavior 🟡 Neutral/Variable (rare temporary unresponsiveness may slow down quick toggles until restart) 🟡 Low (potential disruption to macro efficiency) 🔴 Minor risk (rare loss of overlay or recording hotkeys until app restart)
Deprecation: at.exe / ATSvc (Task management) ⚪ No impact (modern task scheduler is equally fast) 🟢 High (consolidation to modern schtasks.exe reduces legacy overhead) ⚪ No impact
Network: TDI transport registration strengthening ⚪ No impact 🟢 High (prevents instability from rogue network filters) 🔴 Risk (rare, but unregistered third-party network tools for game acceleration may break)
RDP security: SHA-2 certificate support ⚪ No impact 🟢 High (stronger encryption with minimal handshake overhead difference) 🟡 Low (safer game streaming from home PC without lag penalty)
