KB5101681


Microsoft has released the preliminary update KB5101681 (Build 28000.2605) for Windows 11, version 26H1. The update is intended for devices with ARM64 architecture processors (Snapdragon), as well as for PCs with x64 processors (Intel and AMD). KB5101681 includes new features that are gradually rolling out to compatible devices, and standard quality improvements available to all users immediately after installation.

Windows Hello external fingerprint scanners Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options Connect a supported fingerprint scanner with Enhanced Sign-in Security (ESS). Open Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options, follow instructions to enroll. Available on desktop computers and Copilot+ PCs.
Account control (Start menu) Start menu > Account picture Open Start menu, select your account picture in the lower-left corner. Updated design shows subscription status icon. Available for Microsoft account users.
AI component removal (Image Generation) Settings > Apps > Installed apps On supported Copilot+ PCs where Image Generation AI component is installed, you can now remove it via Settings > Apps.
Global power settings Settings > System > Power & battery Changes to display turn-off time, sleep/hibernation time, power/sleep button actions, and lid close actions now apply to all power schemes automatically.
Battery saver charge threshold Settings > System > Power & battery Set the charge threshold at which battery saver turns on in Settings > System > Power & battery. This ability has been restored.
Remote Desktop design update Settings > System > Remote Desktop Open Settings > System > Remote Desktop to see the updated dialog window design when enabling Remote Desktop.
Voice typing fluid dictation default Settings > Accessibility > Speech Fluid dictation feature is now disabled by default for new users. A training tooltip displays on first use of voice typing.
